Before triathlon, Taryn was a swimmer and a 1500m runner. In 2002, she decided to combine the two disciplines and add cycling to become a triathlete. She had her first taste of world championship competition at the 2004 Madeira Triathlon World Championships in the u23 category. Taryn used 2005 to gain experience on the ITU and french club racing circuit. Her future plans include competing as an elite at the World Championships and qualifying for the 2012 Olympics.
