Marc D'hooge

European Continental President (elected until 2029)

Biography

After a long spell in cycling, Marc D’hooge has been a passionate Age Group triathlete from
2010 to 2023. Mainly focused on long distance triathlon, his dedication to the sport was
rewarded with the participation in 6 World Championships, crowned by crossing the magic
finish line at Kona’s Ali’i Drive in October 2022. In addition, he set up a small-scale but
successful Age Group coaching activity since 2016.

Originally from Belgium, Marc has spent his entire professional life in the financial sector in
Luxembourg and acquired the Luxembourg nationality some years ago. Throughout his
entire career as a banker at senior executive level at European Investment Bank (the EU’s
financial institution), he worked across many countries on the European Continent and
acquired very solid financial and project management skills, with a strong focus on project
financing and financial support program development, notably in the field of high-risk
innovation finance. This provides an excellent basis for building tailor-made and strategic
solutions.

With 10 years of experience in sports management, mainly in Luxembourg’s national
Triathlon Federation, in Development at the European level, and more recently in the field
of audit, risk and integrity at global level, Marc is now taking on the challenge of elevating
the European Continental Confederation into a new era of innovation, with a focus on
developing the sport in new markets, empowering the next generation, and building a
resilient and sustainable triathlon ecosystem across Europe.
When not contributing to the development of triathlon in Luxembourg, Europe or globally,
Marc enjoys traveling, playing golf and keeping up to date his long lasting passion in global
politics and economics.
