Biography

Jon was appointed Secretary General of World Triathlon in August 2025. Previously, he spent 7 years with the International Hockey Federation (FIH), also based in Lausanne, Switzerland, initially as Sport Director and progressing to be the Interim Director General in 2024/25, leading the FIH team during the Paris Olympic Games.

A double Olympian (Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 as captain) for Great Britain in Hockey, after retiring from the international team in 2002, Jon worked within sports marketing agencies in London for 15 years, becoming the Managing Director of sports business leaders Fast Track, within the CSM group, (now Wasserman), advising brands on sports sponsorship and how to achieve their business objectives through their association with sport.

As well as the two Olympic Games he competed in, Jon has worked on four Olympic Games (Athens 2004, London 2012, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024), managing sponsors' marketing programmes, competitions, initiation programmes and International Federation activity.

Jon holds a Master's degree in Chemistry from Oxford University, is a keen skier, runner and cyclist and whilst certainly not at an elite level, has completed sprint and standard distance triathlons. Jon has lived in Lausanne since 2018, is married and has 4 sport-loving children.
