World Triathlon Technical Delegates confirmed for LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games

World Triathlon is pleased to confirm the appointments of Kelly Mahoney (CAN), Jan Philipp Krawczyk (GER) and Gergely Markus (HUN) as the LA28 Technical Delegates across the Olympic and Paralympic Games programmes.

With the full support of the World Triathlon staff, the officials will work alongside the Organising Committee, IOC and IPC to deliver the triathlon events on 15th (Olympic women), 16th (Olympic men) and 20th July (Olympic Mixed Relay) and 17-18 August (Paralympic individual).

“Kelly Mahoney and Jan Philipp Krawczyk have far-reaching experience and have been Technical Delegates at the highest level of World Triathlon competition, including the Championship Series, ” said World Triathlon President Antonio F. Arimany.

“Along with World Triathlon’s Gergely Markus, there is a wealth of Olympic and Paralympic experience on this team that will help ensure the smooth running of exceptional Games for our athletes and their teams at LA28.”

Kelly was a member of the Technical Officials’ team at the Beijing 2008, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and Jan Philipp at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Gergely has been involved in every edition since triathlon debut in Sydney 2000 in various capacities as Technical Official, Competition Manager, Technical Delegate and as World Triathlon Sport Director.

Triathlon will award the very first medals of these Olympic Games, the women racing on the morning of day one with the first LA28 Olympic gold medal on the line.

Both the Olympic and Paralympic triathlon races will start and finish in Venice Beach, California. The Olympic individual course consists of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run, and the Mixed Relay of a super-sprint distance for all four members of the team. The Paralympic races are held over the 750m, 20km, 5km distances.
