World Triathlon achieves historic digital growth, surging to Top 15 in global IFs rankings

World Triathlon is proud to announce a landmark year of digital expansion, as highlighted in the newly released SportOnSocial International Federations 2026 Report by Redtorch. For the first time in our history, World Triathlon has broken into the top tier of global sports organizations, climbing 15 places to secure its best-ever ranking of #15 overall.

This meteoric rise is headlined by a dominant performance on video-centric platforms. World Triathlon surged 24 places to become the #2 ranked International Federation on YouTube and climbed 15 spots to reach #13 on TikTok. The organization also achieved a top-20 position on Instagram (#19) and recorded significant gains across all major Chinese social media platforms, including Weibo and WeChat.

Strategic investment in content

The record-breaking numbers follow a strategic investment in creating exclusive and extensive digital content that has been in place for the last two seasons, and will increase even further in 2026. Moving beyond traditional race-day coverage, World Triathlon has focused on delivering behind-the-scenes access and human-interest storytelling that resonates with a global audience.

A cornerstone of this strategy is the exclusive in-house documentary series, Dare to Dream. Following the massive success of its first two seasons—which provided an intimate look at the lives of elite athletes—World Triathlon is pleased to confirm that Season 3 is already in production. This original programming, alongside continuous improvements to the TriathlonLive.tv OTT platform, has transformed how fans consume the sport, offering more live events and on-demand content than ever before.

A collaborative success

This digital transformation has been fueled by a powerful partnership with Deffo Media, which has worked hand-in-hand with the World Triathlon internal media team since 2024. Together with a global network of dedicated photographers and videographers, this team has captured the intensity and emotion of the sport from every corner of the globe.

'I am immensely proud of the strides we have taken to bring our sport to the forefront of the digital landscape,' said World Triathlon President Antonio F. Arimany. 'Ranking #15 globally and #2 on YouTube is a testament to the hard work of our media team, our partners at Deffo, and our incredible athletes whose stories we are so privileged to tell. Our investment in storytelling through projects like Dare to Dream and our OTT platform, TriathlonLive, ensures that triathlon remains an engaging, innovative, and accessible sport for fans everywhere as we look toward the future.'

World Triathlon remains committed to pushing the boundaries of sports media, ensuring that the 'blue carpet' experience is felt by millions of viewers worldwide.
