World class women set for Haikou sprint distance clash

The 2026 World Triathlon Cup continues in Haikou for the second stop of the season following last week’s race in Lanzarote. Racing begins at 11:00am local time on Saturday.
Course and distance: Sprint (750m swim | 20km bike | 5km run)
Venue: Coastal city setting in Haikou, China (new World Cup destination)

With a new Olympic qualification period now underway, valuable early season points are on offer as athletes look to make an impact.

THE CONTENDERS - ELITE WOMEN'S PREVIEW
Diana Isakova AIN leads the field with strong 2025 results, including silver at the World Triathlon Cup Tongyeong and fourth place at the World Triathlon Cup Miyazaki. Great Britain’s Sian Rainsley brings consistent performances from the 2025 World Triathlon Championship Series circuit, while Spain’s Sara Guerrero Manso arrives as the 2025 World Triathlon Cup Florianopolis gold medallist and one to watch.

Great Britain’s Olivia Mathias will look to start her season this weekend and Spain’s Marta Pintanel Raymundo, who just missed the podium last week in Lanzarote, are both genuine contenders for the podium and arrive in strong form at the start of their season. 

Canada’s Desirae Ridenour kicked off her 2026 season with gold at the Oceania Triathlon Cup Napier and is one to watch this Saturday, alongside Australia’s Charlotte Derbyshire in a 39-athlete field.
