Following the success of the inaugural ‘Triathlon del Mediterraneo International Gala’ in December last year, the ITU are returning to Sicily, Italy, for a sprint European Cup on 29th September.

The gorgeous seaside resort of Mondello, close to the City of Palermo, is sure to offer a breathtaking backdrop to what is sure to be a fantastic event.

Last year, the race adopted the semi-finals and finals format but 2012 is a straightforward sprint race of 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run.

Rachel Klamer (NED) and Tony Moulai (FRA) were the respective winners in 2011.

A number of top athletes have already confirmed their participation in the race including some of best known home athletes in Annamaria Mazzetti, Daniel Hofer, Daniela Chmet and Alessandro Fabien.

The Italian athletes will meet fierce competition in the face of a strong International field which includes, Aurelien Raphael and Raoul Shaw (both FRA) and Yuliya Yelistratova (UKR), Kathrin Muller (GER) and Arina Shulgina (RUS).
