Technical Officials are vital to delivering safe, fair and consistent World Triathlon events, and August provided a strong programme of education for officials across several regions. During the month, just under 100 TOs took part in World Triathlon Technical Officials education across five Level 1 seminars and one Level 2 seminar, with female participation ranging from 36% to 66%. The programmes brought together officials from different NFs, providing opportunities to learn World Triathlon competition rules, develop practical officiating skills and share experiences with other officials.
Kilifi | Developing Technical Officials in Kenya
The 2026 Kilifi World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar brought together nine participants from Kenya, with 44% female participation. The seminar was also attended by the Secretary General of the host National Federation as a special guest.

Turkistan | Building the Technical Officials Pathway
The 2026 Turkistan World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar had 18 participants, with 55% female participation, representing KAZ, UZB, KGZ and RUS. Sergey Mayer, KAZ NF Secretary General, joined the programme, as a special guest.
The seminar provided an opportunity to bring officials from across the region together and continue building the technical officials pathway within the NFs.

Seoul | Continuing Education in Korea
Two technical officials education programmes were held in Seoul during August. Having both Level 1 and Level 2 education taking place in Seoul during the month also demonstrates the importance of developing officials through a pathway, from gaining the foundations of officiating through to building more advanced knowledge and experience.
The 2026 Seoul KTF - World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar (ATOEP) included 22 participants, with 36% female participation, from KOR.

The 2026 Seoul World Triathlon Technical Officials & Event Organisers Level 2 Seminar provided the next step for more experienced officials and event organisers, with 26 participants and 46% female participation. The Level 2 seminar brought together participants from SGP, NEP, JOR, KOR, UZB, QAT, IRI, KSA, JPN and CHN.

Taipei | Regional Education and Opportunity
The 2026 Taipei World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar involved 12 participants, with an even 50% female participation. Participants came from TPE, MAC, MAS and INA, with Andrew Tai (TPE NF Representative) attending as a special guest. Bringing officials from several NFs together provides an opportunity to share experiences while developing a common understanding of World Triathlon competition requirements.

Papeete | Strong Female Participation
The 2026 Papeete World Triathlon Technical Officials Level 1 Seminar included nine participants, with 66% female participation. Joe Tapare, President of Tahiti NF, attended as a special guest, keeping an eye on preparations for the 2027 Pacific Games hosted by his nation. The strong female participation in Papeete was one of the highlights of the month's technical officials education programme and reflects the continued opportunity to increase the number of women progressing through technical officials education.

Developing the people behind the events
Technical officials are an essential part of every triathlon event. Their decisions and knowledge help ensure that competition is delivered consistently, safely and fairly.
The August programmes provided officials at different stages of their development with opportunities to build their knowledge and experience, while also strengthening the pool of trained officials available to support events at national, regional and international level.
