The local Cook Islands triathlon community is very strong with racing opportunities twice a week.

When presented with the opportunity of an ITU coaching course, the locals took it with both hands.

It was very pleasing to see a strong mix of local Polynesian people including ladies taking part.

Local coach Vanessa Palmer took part in the course as part of her Level 2 accreditation and presented a great run skills and drills session.

The Edgewater Resort was a perfect location for the course and made all presenters and participants feel very welcome.

The last session of the course was aimed at brainstorming ideas for helping to capitalize on what has already been built. On the radar will be a junior program and a rookie program. We also looked at developing a regular schedule of coached sessions for everyone throughout the week.

Thanks must go to all involved in such a great initiative and the course will be the start of big things to come from the Cook Islands.
