Monte Gordo hosts debut in Europe Triathlon Cup

Monte Gordo, Portugal will host the Europe Triathlon Cup for the first time this Saturday, 11 April, featuring a sprint-distance event. The competition has attracted a strong field, with 75 athletes entered in the men’s elite race and 65 in the women’s elite event.

Following the recent success of home favourite Vasco Vilaça in Quarteira two weeks ago, more Portuguese athletes will be aiming to deliver strong performances on home soil this weekend.

In the men’s field, Maxime Hueber-Moosbrugger wears bib number one and will look to open his 2026 season in the same form he ended 2025, on the podium. He secured a spot finish at the World Triathlon Cup in Tongyeong, where he crossed the line just ahead of Norway’s Vetle Bergsvik Thorn.

In the women’s elite race, Italy’s Costanza Arpinelli holds the number one start position and, like Hueber-Moosbrugger, begins her 2026 campaign in Portugal.

The elite women’s race is scheduled to start at 3:00 pm, followed by the men’s race at 5:00 pm. Both events will be streamed live on YouTube.

The full start lists for both the men’s and women’s races are available online.
