The ITU Executive Board has met during two days in the Olympic Capital, Lausanne, ahead of the Grand Final, with the International Olympic Committee President, Mr Thomas Bach, welcome the Board members to the Olympic House and participated in the fruitful discussion about the future of triathlon in the Olympic programme, as long as discussed the Test Event held in Tokyo two weeks ago.
“For us is a great privilege to be here at the Olympic House explaining not only to our Board members but also to the IOC President and the Sports Director our plans for the near future, and what we would like to achieve for the athletes that will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games”, explained ITU President and IOC member, Marisol Casado.
“It has been two days of fruitful debate with all the Board members, defining the direction of our organization and our events, as well as our competition structure, for the next years”, she explained. “
The Board also reviewed the status of all the major upcoming competitions, as well as made a look back at the season and the test event in Tokyo, and approved the calendar of events for 2020, which will be announced tomorrow at Congress, as well as awarded the 2022 Multisport World Championships to the city of Ibiza.
