The Mediterranean Triathlon Association (MTA) held its elective General Assembly in Corfu. on Saturday, 17 October, 2026. The Member federations re-elected George Yerolimpos (Greece) as President and elected a new ten-member Executive Board to lead the organisation for the next four years.

The elected Executive Board members, in alphabetical order, are:

Chrystalla Avraamidou (Cyprus)
Alicia Garcia Perez (Spain)
Riccardo Giubilei (Italy)
Cedric Gosse (France)
Korhan Kilicoglu (Türkiye)
Ahmed Hossameldin Mahmoud Galal (Egypt)
Tomislav Marinović (Croatia)
Ljudmila Medan (Serbia)
Warren Muscat (Malta)
Ana Isabel Soares Proença (Portugal)

After the Board elections, Alicia Garcia Perez and Riccardo Giubilei were elected unopposed as MTA Vice-Presidents.

Four women were elected to the Executive Board, making up 40% of its members. This reflects the progress Mediterranean triathlon continues to make on gender balance in leadership.

The elections followed a landmark summer for Mediterranean triathlon. At the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, from 29 to 31 August, triathlon returned to the Games programme for the first time since its debut at Tarragona 2018. Taranto hosted individual sprint races and a mixed relay. Bianca Seregni won women’s gold for the host nation, and Greece took the men’s title. Italy also won the mixed relay ahead of Spain and France.

World Triathlon President Antonio Arimany congratulated the new Board: “My warmest congratulations to all the members of the new MTA Executive Board and to Alicia and Riccardo on their election as Vice-Presidents. The Mediterranean Triathlon Federation has been a close and valued partner of World Triathlon. Our excellent cooperation has helped grow our sport across the region, from development programmes to world-class events like the last Mediterranean Games held in Taranto (Italy). Having four women on the Board is also something to celebrate. I look forward to working with this strong team over the next four years as we continue to build the future of triathlon in the Mediterranean together.”

The MTA President thanked the member federations for an assembly held in a positive and constructive atmosphere.
