The ETU Development Co-ordinator, Zeljko Bijuk, was delighted with the success of the ETU High Performance Development at the ETU Sprint Triathlon European Cup in Dnepropetrovsk last weekend.
Team ETU is a high performance team for European athletes aged between 17-21, from National Federations in ETU development categories 2 and 3, and six athletes made the trip to Ukraine for their competitive debut.
As well as competing in the Sprint European Cup, Milan Tomin (SRB), Aliaksandr Dahkno (BLR), Ali Atlan (TUR), Andrea Balan (ROU), Antonela Manac (ROU) and Ipek Oztosun (TUR), received training and support in all aspects of Elite racing – from bike assembly, to registration procedures and training sessions out on the course.
The lead coach of Team ETU in Ukraine was Grega Zore and he identified improvement areas for all of the athletes but was pleased they got the chance to race. 'I was mostly pleased with their results because we were involved in the race, not falling behind,' said Zore.
'Some of the young athletes in ETU High Performance Team have great potential. The Romanian girls (Balan and Manac) are good swimmers but they need to improve in cycling and running and especially in transitions.'
The next opportunity for Team ETU is the ETU Sprint European Cup in Tartu (EST) Riga on 13th July 2014.
