On Wednesday, 19 November, the second instalment of the second season of World Triathlon’s Dare To Dream documentary series gets underway, with Leo Bergere: The Lion Within premiering on YouTube and TriathlonLive at 8pm CET.
Following the eight contracted Hot Shot athletes heading from the World Triathlon Championship Series to the T100 circuit in 2025, the first four episodes starred Series leader Kate Waugh, Britain’s Jess Learmonth, T100 Dubai winner Morgan Pearson and rising talent Laura Madsen.
Now, we lead into the Qatar Finals on 11-13 December with four weekly deep dives inside the key races and reflections of French duo Leo Bergere and Vincent Luis, the remarkable comeback from injury of Hayden Wilde and USA’s ever-ambitious Taylor Spivey.
Kicking off with Episode 5, France’s 2022 World Champion and last year’s Olympic bronze medallist Leo Bergere discusses the trials and triumphs of the Paris 2024 campaign, the pressure he felt to get back to training at the start of 2025 and the physical and mental fall out of the injury that has plagued him all year.
The T100 season opener in Singapore brought Bergere unexpected silver-medal success under the circumstances of illness and injury, but what should have been August’s crowning career moment with a historic WTCS and T100 double-header weekend in his own backyard in St Raphael, quickly fell apart.
Still not fully fit, under pressure, and nearly crashing out on the bike, the French Riviera racing may not have gone to plan, but Bergere joined the Dare to Dream team within hours of finishing to look back over exactly what went wrong – and what went right – as he looks to rebuild back to full fitness and delivering the performances he knows he has in him.
