World Triathlon Membership Services and Development continued to expand opportunities for coaches in August, with a Level 1 course in Bishkek, Kyrgzstan bringing together coaches from across Central Asia, while a new CPD course prepares to take coaches further into the science behind advanced training planning.
New coaches across Central Asia
The 2026 Bishkek World Triathlon Coaches Level 1 Course brought together 17 participants from three National Federations – UZB, KGZ, KAZ. With 41% female participation, the course continued the focus on increasing opportunities for women within the World Triathlon coaching pathway. The course provided coaches with the foundations required to support athletes and develop their coaching practice, while bringing together participants from neighbouring National Federations to share experiences and build connections across the region.
Lena Polchenkova, Secretary General of the Kyrgyzstan Triathlon Federation, also attended the course.
For World Triathlon Development, these courses are about more than adding new coaches to the system. They are an opportunity to strengthen coaching capacity within National Federations and create a pathway for coaches to continue developing their knowledge and experience.
'Thank you for the opportunity to be with you in such an awesome setting. And I’m especially grateful to be a part of this great course. Thank you!” - Albina Naumova (UZB), Coach
“The motto of the course is: A goal without a plan is just a wish!” - Alexey Kalinin (KGZ), TRI Facilitator

Developing Coach Education further through CPD
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provides coaches with opportunities to deepen their knowledge and apply new ideas to their day-to-day work. In August, World Triathlon Membership Services and Development announced its newest CPD opportunity - Advanced Training Planning: Applied Sport Science. Registration opens 28 September 2026.
The eight-module course focuses on the science that underpins advanced training planning, covering areas including energy systems, VO₂max, metabolic thresholds, heart rate, power and pace, economy and durability, testing principles and the practical application of sport science. The emphasis is on turning the science into coaching decisions that can be used every week – helping coaches understand not only what the numbers tell them, but how to use that information when planning and adjusting training.
The course brings together an international faculty of sport scientists and performance coaches
Kristina Skroče (CRO)
Reinout Van Schuylenbergh (BEL)
Roberto Cejuela (ESP)

The course combines written content and pre-recorded micro-learning with four live round-table webinars, taking place on Wednesdays 4, 11, 18 and 25 November 2026 at 2:00 pm CET.
