El pasado fin de semana se disputó en China la tercera parada del circuito World Triathlon Cup 2026, con la ciudad de Chengdu como escenario de un nuevo capítulo del calendario internacional.
Canadá fue uno de los países panamericanos más destacados del evento, logrando dos medallas de bronce durante el fin de semana: una en la categoría Elite Men y otra en el Mixed Relay.
En la prueba masculina, el canadiense Tyler Mislawchuk consiguió subir al podio tras finalizar tercero con un tiempo de 50:16. La competencia volvió a dejar un cierre ajustado en Chengdu, en una jornada marcada por un alto nivel internacional.
En la categoría Elite Men también hubo otras actuaciones destacadas del continente americano. El canadiense Liam Donnelly finalizó en la octava posición, mientras que su compatriota Martin Sobey fue 13°, entre los estadounidenses Keller Norlan y Braxton Legg que terminaron 12° y 14° respectivamente. Más atrás, Blake Bullard de los Estados Unidos culminó 22°, mientras que su compatriota Reese Vannerson fue 29°. A su vez, Erik Yamir Ramos Croda de México fue 58° y cerró el listado el estadunidense Sullivan Middaugh en la posición 62°.
En la división Elite Women, la mejor triatleta panamericana fue la estadounidense Kelly Wetteland, quien finalizó en la 13° posición. Su compatriota Eleanor Beveridge se ubicó 17°, seguida por Isla Britton de Canadá que finalizó 24°, Sophia Howell también canadiense fue 37°, Michelle Magnani de Estados Unidos fue 38°, Sofía Rodríguez Moreno de México se posicionó 43°, la estadunidense Ruth Pardy fue 45°, Ellison Wolfe también de Estados Unidos fue 52° y cerró Gabrielle Lemes de Brasil en el 61° lugar.
El evento reunió a aproximadamente 130 triatletas, con cerca de 65 atletas en cada una de las categorías Elite Men y Elite Women.
La acción continuó el domingo con el primer Mixed Relay Cup de la temporada World Triathlon Cup 2026, donde trece países participaron de la competencia por equipos.
Canadá volvió a destacarse quedándose con la medalla de bronce, mientras que España y Gran Bretaña lograron el oro y la plata respectivamente. Estados Unidos finalizó en la cuarta posición y México fue octavo.
De esta manera, se da por culminada la tercera Copa del Mundo de la temporada 2026 de la World Triathlon.
Canada claimed two bronze medals at the 2026 World Triathlon Cup Chengdu
Last weekend, the third stop of the 2026 World Triathlon Cup circuit took place in China, with the city of Chengdu hosting another chapter of the international calendar.
Canada was one of the standout Pan American nations of the event, earning two bronze medals during the weekend: one in the Elite Men’s race and another in the Mixed Relay.
In the men’s race, Canadian Tyler Mislawchuk secured a podium finish after placing third with a time of 50:16. Chengdu once again delivered a tightly contested race in a day marked by a high international level of competition.
In the Elite Men’s category, there were also other notable performances from athletes of the Americas. Canadian Liam Donnelly finished in eighth position, while fellow Canadian Martin Sobey was 13th, between Americans Keller Norland and Braxton Legg, who finished 12th and 14th respectively. Further back, American Blake Bullard finished 22nd, while his compatriot Reese Vannerson placed 29th. Mexico’s Erik Yamir Ramos Croda finished 58th, and American Sullivan Middaugh closed the list in 62nd position.
In the Elite Women’s division, the top Pan American athlete was American Kelly Wetteland, who finished 13th overall. Her compatriot Eleanor Beveridge placed 17th, followed by Canada’s Isla Britton in 24th. Another Canadian, Sophia Howell, finished 37th, while American Michelle Magnani was 38th. Mexico’s Sofía Rodríguez Moreno placed 43rd, American Ruth Pardy finished 45th, Ellison Wolfe of the United States was 52nd, and Brazil’s Gabrielle Lemes closed the standings in 61st place.
The event brought together approximately 130 triathletes, with around 65 athletes competing in each of the Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s categories.
The action continued on Sunday with the first Mixed Relay Cup of the 2026 World Triathlon Cup season, where thirteen countries competed in the team event.
