Bracht (GER) and Joyce (GBR) crowned European Long Distance Champions in Roth

Germany’s Timo Bracht and Great Britain’s Rachel Joyce were crowned ETU Long Distance European Champions after a spectacular event at Challenge Roth.

South Africa’s James Cunnama was the overall Challenge Roth winner after crossing the line in 7:59:59, a sensational time.

Bracht finished second overall, shortly behind Bracht in a time of 8:03:28 but as the first European finisher he claims the title of European Long Distance Champion.

Mike Aigroz of Switzerland finished third overall but claims the silver medal in the European Championships

Cameron Brown of New Zealand finished 4th with Stephen Bayliss of Great Britain fifth. However, as Bayliss was the third European finisher he was elevated to the bronze medal and a place on the podium for the European Championships standings.

The Elite Women’s race was a little more straightforward as the top three athletes were all European and eligible for the European Championships.

Joyce victory was secured in a time of 8:45:04, just four minutes ahead Sonja Tajsich in second place.

Julia Gajer, winner at Challenge Kraichgau just last month, showed incredible consistency to finish third and secure a place on the podium.
