Baltic Championship Action Heads to Alūksne

Alūksne, Latvia, will host this year’s Baltic Championships, following last year’s edition in Otepää, Estonia.

Last year’s women’s silver medallist, Beate Jansone, returns looking to go one better as she lines up wearing bib number two.

Starting with bib number one is Grete Maria Savitsch of Estonia, who has already enjoyed international success this season, claiming silver at the Africa Triathlon Aquathlon Cup El Galala.

Latvia will be represented by three athletes in the women’s race, with Beāte Bula and Ieva Pauniņa joining Jansone on home soil.

Lithuania also fields a trio of competitors, with Vilgustė Gustaitytė, Ula Sijaviciute and Lėja Bubulaitė all aiming to challenge for the podium.

In the men’s race, Estonia’s Johannes Sikk will wear bib number one, having secured silver at last year’s championships in Otepää, where he finished behind champion Gregor Rasva.

Latvia’s Artjoms Gajevskis, who claimed bronze last year, will also be looking to match or better his podium finish.

While defending champion Rasva does not return to defend his title, Estonia still arrives in Alūksne with a strong squad of nine athletes across the championships.

The home crowd will have plenty to cheer for, with nine Latvian men on the start line as they look to deliver a memorable performance on home ground.
