FLORES Y MARTÍNEZ SE CORONARON CAMPEONES EN ANZOÁTEGUI 2026
El pasado fin de semana se llevó a cabo la Americas Triathlon Cup and Central American and Caribbean Championships Anzoátegui 2026, evento que reunió a destacados triatletas del continente en Playa Pepe, ubicada en la localidad venezolana de Caicara.
La competencia, organizada por la Federación Venezolana de Triatlón junto al Gobierno de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, se disputó sobre distancia sprint, con 750 metros de natación, 20 kilómetros de ciclismo y 5 kilómetros de carrera pedestre, bajo la normativa oficial de World Triathlon.
En la categoría Elite Men, el chileno Ignacio Flores Arana se quedó con el título de campeón tras completar la prueba en un tiempo de 51 minutos y 24 segundos. Flores Arana lideró un destacado doblete chileno junto a su compatriota Mateo Mendoza Burgos, quien obtuvo la medalla de plata a tan solo 13 segundos del ganador. El podio fue completado por el ecuatoriano Juan José Andrade Figueroa, que finalizó tercero.
La competencia masculina mostró un gran nivel deportivo, con varios atletas cruzando la línea de meta separados por escasos segundos. El mexicano Rodrigo González López finalizó cuarto, mientras que el ecuatoriano Thomas Francisco Chica Pérez completó el Top 5. También ingresaron dentro de los diez mejores Alfredo Miguel Rodríguez Figueroa (México), Álvaro Campos Solano (Costa Rica), Cristian Torrealba (Venezuela), Rodrigo Probert González (México) y Yhousman David Perdomo Peña (Venezuela).
En la categoría Elite Women, la venezolana Rosa Elena Martínez Melchior celebró ante su público al conquistar la medalla de oro con un tiempo de 57 minutos y 15 segundos. La triatleta local fue acompañada en el podio por su compatriota Génesis Carolina Ruiz Volcan, quien obtuvo la medalla de plata, mientras que la estadounidense Jimena Renata De La Peña Schott se quedó con el bronce.
El resultado permitió a Venezuela dominar la prueba femenina con un histórico 1-2 en casa, consolidando una destacada actuación de sus representantes en el Campeonato Centroamericano y del Caribe.
De esta manera concluyó una nueva edición de la Americas Triathlon Cup y Campeonato Centroamericano y del Caribe de Triatlón. Felicitaciones a todos los atletas que formaron parte del evento y representaron a sus respectivas banderas.

FLORES ARANA AND MARTÍNEZ MELCHIOR CROWNED CHAMPIONS IN ANZOÁTEGUI 2026
The Americas Triathlon Cup and Central American and Caribbean Championships Anzoátegui 2026 took place last weekend, bringing together some of the continent's top triathletes at Playa Pepe in Caicara, Venezuela.
Organized by the Venezuelan Triathlon Federation in partnership with the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the event was contested over the sprint distance format, featuring a 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run under World Triathlon regulations.
In the Elite Men race, Chile's Ignacio Flores Arana claimed the title after crossing the finish line in 51:24. Flores Arana led an impressive Chilean one-two finish alongside compatriot Mateo Mendoza Burgos, who secured the silver medal just 13 seconds behind the winner. Ecuador's Juan Jose Andrade Figueroa completed the podium with the bronze medal.
The men's race delivered a highly competitive contest, with several athletes separated by only a few seconds at the finish. Mexico's Rodrigo Gonzalez Lopez finished fourth, while Ecuador's Thomas Francisco Chica Perez rounded out the top five. Also finishing inside the top ten were Alfredo Miguel Rodriguez Figueroa (Mexico), Alvaro Campos Solano (Costa Rica), Cristian Torrealba (Venezuela), Rodrigo Probert Gonzalez (Mexico) and Yhousman David Perdomo Peña (Venezuela).
In the Elite Women race, Venezuela's Rosa Elena Martinez Melchior delighted the home crowd by claiming gold in a time of 57:15. She was joined on the podium by fellow Venezuelan Genesis Carolina Ruiz Volcan, who earned silver, while American Jimena Renata De La Peña Schott secured the bronze medal.
The result gave Venezuela a memorable one-two finish in the women's event and highlighted the strong performance of the host nation throughout the Central American and Caribbean Championships.
