Vincent Luis has been competing in ITU events since 2005 and represented his country at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, placing 7th. He was a central part of the French Mixed Relay Team that successfully defended their World title in 2019.

In 2019, Luis was crowned World Champion after finishing the season narrowly ahead of training partner Mario Mola in a nail-biting climax at the Lausanne Grand Final.
