Update from Club Mykonos

I trained at Mykonos ( Langebaan) this last week-end and have the following inside information for you. The place is great, awesome views, restaurants and general laid back vibe, ‘typical west coast hospitality’ I’m told.

The weather was cool in the morning but got rather hot from midday onwards. A great swim, with clear cool water (about 18 degrees) and navigation made easy by simply staying close to the moored yachts. Once out and on the bike you hit a short (about 2km) challenging technical section, with some steep ‘up and downs’, sharp cornering and a few speed humps thrown in for good measure. Then it’s out of the resort and onto the open road, around the turn and back again (4 laps). Beware of the traffic circle and entry back into the resort, its fast and tight!

Once off the bike the run route, also over 4 laps, is undulating and rather tough. There are short sharp climbs, two sharp turns, a good downhill and a small section of gravel/sand mixture thrown in… best save your legs for this course! Be warned, the path narrows near the end of each lap, so don’t get caught out on your last lap!

The forecasted weather is…

Forecast: Saturday, 3 March 2007

Min:  16°C Max:  20°C
Weather:  Partly cloudy, rain by evening (60%)
Wind:  fresh north-westerly
