Almost 200 youth athletes ranging from 11 to 21 years old, representing Caribbean countries, competed this weekend at the Carifta 2023 Triathlon Championships. Organized under the theme “Sports in Paradise,” the event took place on August 26 and 27 at Goodman’s Bay in Nassau, Bahamas, with athletes from Bahamas, Bermuda, Barbados, Jamaica, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and Antigua and Barbuda.

“It was a fantastic experience to be present at the Carifta and see all these young triathletes enjoying the thrill of competition, and seeing such young kids already performing at international level, helping developing our sport in this region. It has been really positive for us to watch first hand the excellent event delivery and the amazing atmosphere among all participants. I really want to congratulate the Bahamas Triathlon Association in Nassau, under the leadership of President Dorian Roach, for delivering such a fabulous event and proving that the sport is in a great shape in the region”, said Antonio F. Arimany, World Triathlon Secretary General.

“We are so excited to host the Carifta Triathlon and Aquathlon for the first time in Nassau,” expressed Lori Roach, Secretary General of the Bahamas National Federation. Goodman’s Bay provided a stunning backdrop for the competitions, showcasing the beauty of the Bahamas, with athletes competing on Triathlon, Aquathlon and Mixed Relay disciplines.
