190 volunteers at Madrid WC
The organization of the 2005 ITU Madrid World Cup, which
will be held next Sunday 5 June at Casa de Campo, would not be the same without
the important work of the volunteers. This year, 190 volunteers chosen by the
Madrid Triathlon Federation will be all the weekend of the event out and about
the circuit ensuring another successful event. Most of them are prevolunteers
of the candidate city of Madrid to host the 2012 Olympic Games. Sixty of them
will be ITU Madrid World Cup volunteers for third year in a row.

This year there will be a mentally disabled volunteers group from the Madrid Down’s Syndrome Foundation. Their presence is a bid of the Organizing Committee for sport as a social integration tool.
The Olympic triathlete Ana Burgos, born in Madrid, will be the volunteers’ patroness for second year in a row. All the volunteers will receive on-line information about their responsibilities for the World Cup.
A group of volunteers called Ecovolunteers, created this year, will be in charge of giving environmental information to the public along the Casa de Campo circuit. These volunteers will receive specific environmental knowledge from Madrid 2012.
Moreover, for third year in a row, there will be a group of volunteers from the Madrid School of Languages for helping in translations (athletes, ITU members…)
All the volunteers will be able to travel free in public transport (Metro, buses and regional trains) next 4 and 5 June thanks to the agreement reached between the Madrid Triathlon Federation and the Madrid Regional Transports Consortium.
When the event is finished, the Organizing Committee will
give a present to all the volunteers: bags made of recycling cloth. These bags
are made by an association called Molinos de Viento integrated by people with
difficulties for working (www.ecolinea.org).
