Varied Athlete Departures

All races will be conducted in accordance with World Triathlon Rules as in force at the date of the event. Any variations to be agreed at the Technical Meeting in Bermuda prior to the competition.

Athletes’ age groups will be determined by their age as at midnight on December 31st, 2026.

Age Groups - Triathlon and Aquathlon Athletes will compete for medals in the following age groups:

• 11-12 Female and Male • 13-14 Female and Male • 15-16 Female and Male • *17-21 Female and Male

Each national federation is limited to a quota of 5 males and 5 females in each age group. The CARIFTA Committee may consider allowing additional athletes if there are unallocated quota places.

The new age groups for this event are as agreed at the CARIFTA Meeting of October 15th, 2025. There is no longer a 20-21 age group.

World Triathlon Americas Regional Cup

The 17-21 Female and Male triathlons are also designated as World Triathlon Americas Regional Cup races, carrying World Triathlon ranking points for competing athletes.

*Option for 16 year old athletes to compete in the World Triathlon Americas Regional Cup/CARIFTA 17-21 race Athletes aged 16 as at midnight on December 31st, 2026, will have the option of competing in the World Triathlon Americas Regional Cup event or in the CARIFTA 15-16 age group triathlon. Athletes choosing to compete in the World Triathlon Americas Regional Cup race will still have the option of competing in the 15-16 Aquathlon.

Mixed Team Relays - 2 males, 2 females

Senior MTR - 2 athletes from any age group; 2 must be from 15-16 age group or younger.

Junior MTR -2 or more athletes from 11-12 age group, up to 2 from 13-14.

The order of competitors in each race will be female-male-female-male as per current World Triathlon rules. Reserves Requests for substitutions after the final entries are submitted will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the CARIFTA Committee. Substitutions will be permitted for valid reasons such as injury or illness.
