Triathlon season heats up in Abu Dhabi for 2022 World Triathlon Championships

The World Triathlon Championship Finals arrive in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island from 23rd – 26th November 2022. As the Championship Finals is the crown jewel of World Triathlon’s annual calendar, the multi day event will stage the Elite, U23, Para and Age-Group World Triathlon Championships. The festival is set to welcome thousands of local, regional and international triathletes to the UAE’s capital city and will see World Champions crowned across all categories.
Yas Bay Race Village officially comes alive when it opens on Wednesday 23rd November with the Expo, Age-Group World Championship Registration, Para Triathlon and Elite athlete course familiarsations and the Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony.
The World Triathlon Para Championships and World Triathlon Age-Group Super-Sprint Championships will take place in Yas Bay Race Village on Thursday 24th November (Para races from 8AM local time and Age-Group races from 12.45PM) and World Triathlon Champions presented at the Medal Ceremonies from 4.45PM local time.
Friday will stage the U23 Championships and at 1PM the Elite women will battle for world titles in the 2022 World Triathlon Championship Finals. Medal ceremonies will take place after each race across the day and the Elite women’s world title will be presented from 3.15PM.

Saturday will host the Open Para Triathlon Mixed Relay from 7.15AM. Right after that, the Age-Group Standard Championships World Championships and the Aquabike Age-Group World Championships. And the Elite men will line up for the Championship Finals from 3PM local time.

Nearly 500 Age-Group world triathletes will contest in the 2022 World Triathlon Age-Group Super Sprint World Championships, nearly 1,000 world triathletes in the 2022 World Triathlon Age-Group Standard Distance World Championships and over 200 athletes in the 2022 World Triathlon Age-Group Aquabike World Championships. There will be plenty of opportunities for Age-Group athletes to meet and mingle with the Elite and Para superstars of World Triathlon during the week. Be sure to keep an eye on @worldtriathlon social media channels for events taking place on the Main Stage where you can meet the Triathlon stars.
World Triathlon Executive Board, Committees and Commisions will meet during the week while Delegates are in the UAE for the Championship Finals.
Alongside the World Championship races, the event will also host community races for triathletes of all ages and abilities – including a Kids and Junoior Event from 4PM local time on Friday and Community Age-Group races from 10AM on Saturday.
