The International Triathlon Union has released a Comparative Document highlighting all the changes of the ITU Competition Rules (adopted January 2010 by ITU Executive Board) from the version valid last year.

The document was prepared by ITU Technical Committee Chair Enrique Quesada, who captured all the changes and marked the importance of each change from high to low.

The notable changes are:

  • The introduction of a penalty box for the Age Group athletes for drafting violations on the cycling segment.
  • The introduction of a penalty box for the elite athletes for violations during the two transitions (mount/dismount line rule or throwing equipment in the TA)
  • Unintentional ties will be recognised
  • Air temperature will be considered when water temperature measurementsare taken
